PRCA Rodeo Bud Center Loveland Colorado August 8-10

The PRCA Rodeo, presented by Pedersen Toyota, will bring buckin’, brawls and bruises on Sunday, August 8 when it kicks-off a three night rodeo at the Larimer County Fair, presented by Ranch Way-Feeds. The PRCA Rodeo at Budweiser Events Center continues on Monday, August 9 and concludes with ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night’ on Tuesday, August 10, where cowboys and all attendees are encouraged to wear pink shirts, hats and boots in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. All sessions begin at 7 p.m.

Cherokee Ranch & Castle Schedule

Cherokee Ranch and Castle today announced the kick-off of the “Discover Cherokee Series”: an array of wildlife programs and signature hikes presented at Cherokee Ranch and Castle this summer designed for guests of all ages.

“We want to see more faces of various ages and abilities enjoying the performing arts and the great outdoors this summer, that’s why we are showcasing the Discover Cherokee Series,” said Cherokee Ranch and Castle CEO Donna Wilson.

Wilson touted the merits of the adventure-filled series and especially one which combines theatre and hiking — as guests partake in Antoine de Saint Exupery’s classic, Little Prince, performed by Theatre-Hikes Colorado, Saturday, June 26, 10 a.m.

“This event is so Cherokee,” said Wilson, “Theatre-Hikes Colorado has a mission that is in sync with ours…seeking to promote the arts, encourage cultural preservation within natural settings, and provide activity for participants.”

Celebrating the Raptors Presented by HawkQuest Saturday, June 19: Noon – 2:00 p.m. Reservations: $25/person, includes box lunch

Kin Quitugua and his volunteers will teach the importance of different raptor species, their specially adapted tools, and their role in our ecosystems. In this participatory program, guests observe the unique tools of the owl, the incredible talons and six-foot wingspan of the eagle, the aerodynamic features of the falcon, and the precision flying of the hawk. The one-hour program includes a Bald or a Golden Eagle, an Owl, a Falcon, and features a free-flying Hawk, followed by a special box lunch with presenters.

Bird Hikes Saturdays: June 26; July 10: 8:30 –10:30 a.m. Reservations: $30/person; 15 person limit

Led by veteran bird census taker, Lynn Willcockson, hikers along this 2-mile trek are likely to see several species of birds including—Spotted Towhee, Black-headed Grosbeak, Scrub Jay, two species of Bluebirds, Tree Swallows and the very tiny Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. Bring binoculars, sunscreen and water bottle along with a picnic lunch to enjoy our views from the Castle Picnic House/Pavilion area.

Geology Hikes Saturdays: June 26; July 24; August 7; August 14: 8:30–10:30 a.m. Reservations: $20/person; 30 person limit

Led by veteran geologist advisor Al Koch, the moderate intensity, 2-mile, 2-hour hike begins with an overview of the Ranch geology. Proceeding up to Raccoon Knob and Cherokee Mountain, hikers will examine local and regional geology and culture from spectacular and seldom visited viewpoints. Wear hiking shoes and sunscreen. Be sure to bring a water bottle and picnic lunch to enjoy our views after the hike from the Castle Picnic House/Pavilion area.

Elk Bugling Tuesdays: September 21 or 28 Wednesdays: September 15 or 22 Thursday: September 23 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Reservations: $20/adults; $10/students 6 -12

Enjoy an evening learning about the mating rituals of the magnificent elk while listening to their uniquely beautiful rutting calls. Take in the fabulous scenery from the Castle and Castle Terrace. A representative from Douglas County Open Space will present a fascinating educational program. Guests will be treated to a complimentary glass of wine, beer or soda. Cash Bar available (sorry, no outside alcoholic beverages). Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy Cherokee’s majestic views.
