ABOUND SOLAR EXPANDS AT CENTERRA

Named as one of the nation’s most successful startups and one of the top 25 “hot” companies by Business Week’s online edition, Abound Solar has expanded its Northern Colorado presence to Centerra, located at the intersection of Interstate 25 and U.S. 34 in Loveland.

Abound Solar currently occupies two locations at Centerra, 7,500 square feet of office space at Rangeview Two, 2695 Rocky Mountain Avenue, and has recently expanded its certification and reliability laboratory to include 15,000 square feet of space at 3755 Precision Drive.

The Abound laboratory works directly with its manufacturing facility in Longmont, which opened in April 2009 to produce photovoltaic modules in commercial volumes. In addition, the lab has been approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to perform witness testing, meaning it meets the highest standards for safety and compliance testing in the industry. The facility tests modules under both indoor and outdoor conditions, including a semi-permanent rooftop installation.

“Expanding at Centerra offers the right location and the needed space to match our growth,” said Vern Settle, Controller for Abound Solar. “Our new office and lab space at Centerra has allowed us to bring our photovoltaic modules to market quickly.”

“Abound Solar is a leading world-class renewable energy company that is a perfect fit at Centerra,” said Ron Kuehl, McWhinney Vice President of Real Estate. “As a fast growing company, they had immediate needs which we could accommodate. Our flex space at Centerra is designed to accommodate their testing laboratory requirements, and it is exciting to have our first solar modules installed at Centerra.”

Developed and incubated at Colorado State University with the support of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Abound Solar is a manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules. Abound Solar’s proprietary technology will enable the production of low-cost PV modules and will significantly reduce the cost of generating solar electricity. Production capacity will be scaled rapidly to meet the fast growing demand for solar energy.
