Greeley Stampede June 25th -July 4th 2010

The Greeley Stampede dates back to the 1800′s and has a very long and rich tradition. The 2010 edition is the 88th annual fair and rodeo. This is Greeley largest community celebration and was started to honor local potato farmers. In 1922 it started the present rodeo and fair format. The Stampede has since and festival attracts ing close to 1/2 million people annually from all parts of the United States and several foreign countries.

Greeley Colorado Stampede and  festival spans  two weekends and features Pro Rodeo, Bull-Riding and Kids Rodeos, Country and Classic Rock Concerts, Demolition Derby, televised 4th of July Parade, Carnival Midway, Western Art Show, Free Stage Entertainment, and loads of festival grounds activities, mixed with food and fun galore. The stampede is a real celebration of western hospitality, just like the old west.

Every year the Greeley Stampede and it’s many hundreds of volunteers and committee members raise thousands of dollars as a non-profit corporation. The Stampede concentrates on the support of education and young people in it’s endeavors.

After four days of competition at the Miss Rodeo Colorado Pageant, held during the 87th Annual Greeley Stampede, Kasie Pigg of Pueblo, Colorado, has been named the 2010 Miss Rodeo Colorado.  Kasie, the daughter of Lisa and George Pigg, is a recent graduate of Texas Tech Univeristy where she majored in marketing and communications. She won the personality category as well as the appearance category for the pageant. Other category winners included Kellsie Purdy of Estes Park winning horsemanship, congeniality and 1st Runner‐up; Carly Koppes of Greeley named the Spirit Award winner and 2nd Runner‐up; and Amanda Bodkin, of Evergreen, winning Photogenics. Other contestants this year included Cassidy Cabot of Bayfield and Kerste Wamsley of Greeley.
